Tunisia: Caretaker PM - Only Justice Is Empowered to Decide the Fate of Sami El Fehri

Tunis — "Only justice is empowered to decide the fate of Sami El Fehri," underlined interim Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali, when receiving on Friday, the wife of producer and journalist Sami El Fehri, at her request, specifies the Prime Ministry in a communiqué released public, on Saturday.

"No authority, whether the Prime Ministry or the Justice Ministry could intervene in this case," said the Prime Minister.

He added that "Sami El Fehri had all his moral and material rights in such a manner to preserve his dignity like all the inmates" and that he benefited from "the necessary medical protection."

It is to be pointed out that after the meeting, both sides refused, on Friday, to give statements to the press.

A hearing is scheduled, next January 3, to review the case of Sami El Fehri who suspended, on Saturday, his hunger strike, after having lost 18 kg, to protest against his detention in spite of a decision of the Court of Appeal.
