Zimbabwe: Old Skool Reunion Party Explodes Tonight

Tonight is the night when old skool disc jockeys bring the house down at Belgravia Sports Club in what has been dubbed "Old Skool Reunion Party". The party, which will be aired live on Power FM, will see some of its DJs including L Roy, Smiley aka Usadaro, Bridget "Bubblez" Gavanga, Tafadzwa "DJ Squilla" Sikwila, Rumbi "Lady of Distinction" Moyo, playing alongside Huggies Entertainment, the leading old skool music DJs.

Hazvinei "DJ Chilly" Sakarombe and Davies Mugadza, the 2012 Best Hip-Hop DJ, will be the host for the night.

Also on the bill are Tendai "The Sweet Thang" Chakanyuka, Kelvin "Soul Supreme" Sifelani, Webster "Webber" Brandy, Candy, the legendary Kudzi "Mr Kool" Marudza, Witness "Chuman" Matema and Ronald "D-Train" Chiwanza.

Mr Kool, who had the pleasure of working with the magical Josh Makawa back in the old days, has plenty up his sleeves and each gig sounds different.

His voice and selection of music is simply uninhibited.

He knows when to play what and how to interact with the crowd.

So good on the decks is Mr Kool that he effortlessly delivers the music to the masses on any dance floor.

Ably supported by the vibrant Chuman, Mr Kool is an all-rounder when it comes to music of the old.

Those who still remember the good old days cannot help but reminisce on the soothing sound of the old.

Chuman, who enjoys steady slamming on the decks, has risen through the ranks and he is one of the DJs who gets into the groove with music lovers.

He is endowed with lots of exciting music such that his playlist has something for everyone.

D-Train is simply a crowd puller.

His style cuts across genres and musically he is not limited especially when playing for different people with different music tastes.

More often than not D-Train knows how to get party people into the merry mood and this New Year's Eve he promised to unleash some of his skills on the decks.

"The Sweet Thang" has worked with some of the finest radio presenters of old.

Her morning programme was popular among her peers.

Obviously, the women will not be starved of their favourite hits since she will be holding it down for the ladies. Her playlist will be composed of the seductive tunes and some uptempo tracks.

Perhaps "The Soul Supreme" or simply "Kedza" will spice up the entertainment line up with some rare R&B classics.

According to Tinashe "Chef Gulaz" Chiname, one of the sponsors of the gig, fans are in for a lifetime treat as they celebrate together with Huggies Entertainment.

"We are celebrating our successes as a station and the gig will be aired live on radio. There is going to be lots of fun and entertainment because of the stellar line- up of DJs, " he said.

The "Old Skool Reunion" is proudly sponsored by Pentagon Freight Services, Goldtech Electronics, Power FM, ZimCafe, Colcom and Afdis.
