Gamcel Friday presented the sum of D10, 000 to Gamcel-Gamtel football team of Bajagarr Village, Foni Bintang Karangnai; and a checque amounting D15,000 to the Banjul City Council (BCC). The presentation ceremony was held at the Gamcel head office along the Mamady Maniang highway in Kanifing.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Abdoulie Bass, Gamcel public relations officer, noted that the donation to the Gamcel-Gamtel football team is an indication of solidarity between the two. "We want to strengthen the already existing relationship between us, Gamcel is here for everybody," he said. Bass further stated that what they expect from the team is to patronise Gamcel, noting that the credits the customers buy is what they give back to the people.

Lamin Jammeh, a marketing officer, explained that Gamcel is willing to associate with people particularly the youth folk. He added that Gamcel is here to stay and has invested millions in sports.

Alieu S. Gibba, president of the football team, assured the Gamcel officials that come January 2013 all the members of the club will be using the Gamcel network.

For his part, Modou Jallow, Gamcel admin manager, said it should be the responsibility of everyone particularly the youths to patronise Gamcel. He continued: "If you associate yourselves with Gamcel we want you to be an example because whatever you do if there is no discipline there will be a question mark. We want you to be a model for Gamcel by showing high sense of discipline. In football, when there is no discipline the purpose will not be achieved and the essence of the game is to bring unity."
