Kenya: Teachers' Irate Over Nominee for TSC Job

A section of teachers in Wajir and Mandera are up in arms over the proposed name for a senior position at the Teachers Service Commission for North Eastern region.

The teachers said the name of Adan Sheikh Abdullahi was sneaked in the list at the expense of Saadi Abdi Kontoma who was ranked top in the nominee merit list.

"During the interview, Kontoma beat Abdullahi on all fronts including on gender, education qualifications and articulation of issues", Rukia Ali Saman, a teacher said.

The teachers said while they appreciate that the region had been allocated the slot, merit, gender and ethnic balancing was tampered with.
