Kenya: Aspirant's Plea for Orphans
By Ng'ang'a Thairu, 31 December 2012
An aspirant for Kiambu county women's representative seat, Anna Nyokabi Gathecha, has called on the government to create a fund to cater for vulnerable and orphaned children in order to give them access to education and a chance for a better life.
Speaking at a Christmas party she hosted for more than 200 orphans at Gatuayaga Primary School in Thika Town Gathecha said the number of orphaned children increases every year and most of them lack basic needs like medical care and education. "The government therefore needs to ensure these children are not denied life opportunities," she said.
