Kenya: Ariobangi Residents Protest Over Insecurity

Hundreds Kariobangi and Huruma estates residents yesterday morning took to the streets in protest insecurity after a trader was shot in the chest at the weekend.

The protestors barricaded both Outering and Juja roads with stones and burnt tyres during the five hour protest. A witness said Khadiro alias Hussein was attacked by a gang of five men when he was heading to collect his motorbike from Arahman mosque where he had parked it on Saturday.

A relative, Daniel Abdalla said Khadiro had on Saturday taken some goats to Shukuru Mola slaughter house in Kiamaiko village and that he was to slaughter them yesterday morning before he was attacked.

He was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital for treatment. "The gangsters were not in a hurry, they even stopped to collect the cartridges,"said a witness.

Abdalla said close to ten people have been attacked and injured in the past three months by gangsters. "We want to be assured of our security since we are approaching the general elections."
