Eritrea: National Association of the Blind Conducts Fifth Conference

Asmara — The National Association of the Blind has conducted its 5th Conference over the weekend here in the capital. The participants of the conference conducted in-depth discussion on amended constitutional draft of the Association and approved its enactment.

Mr. Dawit Fisehaye, Chairman of the Association, explained that the current constitution would provide the groundwork on the basis of which equitable opportunities could be ensured among members.

Mr. Mihretab Fisehaye, director general of the Social Welfare Department in the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare, pointed out that the Association has been exerting impressive efforts as regards blindness prevention, reinforcement of its organizational capacity, upgrading human resource capacity, various community-based activities and compiling as well as documenting relevant data. He further indicated the Ministry's readiness to collaborate with it.

The participants called on pertinent bodies to enhance integrated endeavors with a view to upgrading the production capacity of visually impaired nationals.
