South Africa: Message From Acting SAFA President Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana

On behalf of SAFA and the Local Organising Committee of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations South Africa 2013, I take this opportunity to wish all football loving Africans and soccer loving citizens of the world a Prosperous and Happy New Year.

To some of you the year 2012 has been a wonderful year and to others it has had its own challenges. However, as in the words of Harold S. Geenen "we must not be hampered by yesterday's myths in concentrating on today's needs".

Therefore, as you plan for the day after today or the day after tomorrow and the year 2013, please remember what Dan Quisenberry said: "the future is much like the present, only longer".

To the football fraternity, Orange AFCON 2013 awaits us. We will receive a multitude of people into our shores. Let them feel the "Beat at Africa's Feet". Let us receive them with the spirit of Ubuntu wrapped around with the ribbon of love. Let us "Celebrate Africa"

To Bafana Bafana, take a leaf from Orson Scott Card: "your work is first, learning is first, winning is everything because without it there is nothing".

To those who lost their beloved ones in 2012 and during the Festive Season, our condolences are with you and your families.

May God give you strength to see through another day.
