A lobby group in Coast wants measures put in place to stop politicians from misusing the youth during campaigns. Ujamaa Centre programme manager Harriet Osimbo said youth can transform governance and encourage peaceful coexistence if properly mobilised.
She was speaking to the press at Mkoroshoni in Kilifi on Saturday during a peace caravan and walk. Osimbo advised the youth at the Coast to seek facts on claims of marginalisation of the province. She urged them to avoid politicians who incite the to cause violence.
The peace caravanwas part of the activities for the 15 days of activism organised by the Ujamaa Centre to celebrate 10 years of its operation in the region. Osimbo said most youth are easily manipulated by politicians because of unemployment.
