Gambia: Witness Cross-Examined in Laptop Theft Case

Ebrima Sonko, a police officer, was recently cross-examined by Yusupha Barry, who was accused of stealing a laptop, at the Bundung Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Landing Sanneh.

Responding to questions put to him by the 1st accused, Yusupha Barry, the witness told the court he obtained a cautionary statement from the 1st accused during the day, and not at night.

This was done in the presence of an independent witness, he said, adding that the accused, Yusupha Barry, was never forced, neither was he beaten by anybody.

The accused persons, Yusupah Barry and Ousainou Camara, were charged with stealing a mobile laptop, a charge they had since denied.

The case continues.
