Nigeria: Five Suspects in Court for Attempted Murder

The police in Ado-Ekiti on Monday arraigned five men, Jinadu Ayodele, 29; Tope Adeniran, 29; Seun Oluwagbamila, 30; Seun Ariyo, 30, and Fafure Adekunle, 44, before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates' court for alleged attempted murder.

Police prosecutor Caleb Leranmo told the court that the accused committed the offence on Dec. 17, at Sharp Corner Hotel, Irona in Ado-Ekiti. Leranmo said the accused unlawfully conspired to commit felony by attempting to use a cutlass to cut the head of Mrs Comfort Joseph.

Leranmo said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 320 (1) of the Criminal Code cap C 16. Vol 1 of Ekiti State.

Counsel to the accused Gbenga Bejide prayed the court to grant his clients bail, promising that they would not jump bail.

Magistrate Richard Adegboye granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 each and two sureties in like sum each and adjourned the case to Jan. 26, 2013 for further hearing.
