Angola: Capanda Dam Electrical Power Reaches Golungo Alto District

Golungo Alto — A village in the municipality of Golungo Alto, located 54 kilometers off Ndalatando, headquarters of Kwanza Norte province, is benefiting, on an experimental basis, from the 21st of this month, from the electricity produced from the Hydroelectric Capanda Dam.

The town was deprived from power supply since 1992 due to the destruction of the transport and distribution supply of this good, as a result of the armed conflict that ravaged the country.

The action financed by the government of Kwanza Norte and culminated with the restoration of electricity supply to village consisted of the construction of an extension of medium voltage 30 kV substation of Ndalatando city to Golungo Alto and installation of 12 transformation poles, including a 400 KVA to feed the public lighting system and another 250 for supplying power to the local hospital.
