Head of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) Saad al-Katatni said on Monday that 2013 will be "a year of building institutions and entrenching the foundations of a modern democratic state".
Egyptians will overcome the challenges of the coming phase, he said, adding that "the road is hard and the challenges are many".
"As 2012 comes to an end, Egypt has drawn its path by electing the first civil president and ratifying the first constitution that represents the people's will," al-Katatni wrote on his Facebook page.
The party head also extended his congratulations to Egyptians on the occasion of the New Year.
