Kenya: Coast Clubs Seek Namwamba's Help

COAST Nationwide One clubs have appealed to Sports Minister Ababu Namwamba to facilitate a quicker rehabilitation of the Mombasa Municipal Council Stadium to reduce operation costs for the clubs.

The clubs made the appeal during a meeting with Coast Football Kenya Federation national executive member Hussein Terry at Sega in Majengo where they also requested corporate companies to sponsor their activities. Terry, who pledged to pay match supervision fees through the national office, said there was need for the stadium works to be fast racked as the teams have been compelled to use KPA's Mbaraki Sports Club where they have to pay a Sh20,000 g round hiring fee before matches.

Officials of Congo United, Admiral FC, Magongo Rangers, Coast United and Sparki Youth called on Namwamba to use all available means to push the contractor to complete the Sh18 million renovations.

"We want the sports minister to use whatever means are at his disposal to ensure the works are completed because this is the only affordable option for us as we cannot afford the Mbaraki Sports Club charges," said Admiral's team manager Aref Baghazal.
