Kenya: Curio Trade Booms in Malindi

CURIO traders in Malindi are making booming business during this festive season compared to the last few months. Speaking to the Star yesterday at Malindi Tourists Market, trader Teresia Edward said business has picked up as from December 1.

"In the last few months business has not been so good due to security issues but we are now glad that it has improved drastically due to influx of local and international tourists," she said.

Another trader, Kenyatta Nyabwari, echoed her sentiments saying business is fair. "We are currently selling our goods to local hotel investors who normally buy season gifts for their visitors," he said. He said business picked up as from the 27th with traders making daily sales of up to Sh10,000 on average.
