Egypt: Presidency - Morsi Receives Call From UN Chief

President Mohamed Morsi received on Monday 31/12/2012 a phone call from UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on the recent developments in Egypt.

Ban congratulated Morsi on steps that have been recently taken by Egypt in the democratic transition, particularly after approving the new constitution, the presidency said in a statement.

Ban voiced hope that Egypt's upcoming parliamentary elections will be carried out by the same way, read the statement.

He thanked Morsi over efforts exerted by Egypt to bring about an end to the Syrian crisis, added the statement.

Morsi wished the UN chief a happy New Year.
