For the second straight year, Tunisian swimmer Oussama Mellouli was named best Arab sportsman by pan-Arab daily Al Ahram Al Arabiya. Algerian international and Valencia CF midfielder Sofiane Feghouli of Algeria and Montpellier midfielder Younes Belhanda of Morocco shared the title of best Arab footballer in Europe.
Olympic gold medallist Taoufik Makhloufi of Algeria and Moroccan bronze medallist Abdelaâti Iguider were also commended in the reader poll.
