Angola: African Bronze Medal Saves Country's Swimming Performance

Luanda — The bronze medal conquered by the swimmer Jão Matias, in the 50 metres competition at the African championship in September, in Kenya, and the holding of the first international tournament of Luanda, were the highlight of this sport in 2012.

To reach the final, the Angolan athlete that performs in England got the sixth best position, with 26.55 seconds, at the third round.

The international tournament held for the first time in March by the Náutico club, in collaboration with the Angolan Swimming Federation, counted on the participation of the teams 1º de Agosto, Golfinho Sprint de Maputo and Sporting of Portugal.

Angola also participated simultaneously in two competitions in December.
