Angola/Mozambique: Nation, Mozambique Friendly Game Postponed

Luanda — The friendly match between Angola and Mozambique, as part of preparation for the African Cup of Nations (CAN2013) in South Africa, was cancelled due to the unavailability of the latter, said the vice president of the Angolan Federation of Football (FAF), João Lusevikueno.

FAF vice president told Angop Wednesday that the Mozambican counterpart decided to give up the match, scheduled for 13 January in Maputo, Mozambique, alleging difficulties to gather the athletes as the local championship is in the close season, worsened by non coincidence with the FIFA date.

To this reason, he added, the national team will play only a friendly in the second and final phase of preparation on Saturday with Zambia, the African champions.

Angola and Mozambique played for the last time on 15 August 2012 in Ombaka stadium in southern Benguela province, in which the host team won by 2-0.
