Tunisia: President Marzouki Calls for Accelerating Corruption Files's Opening

Tunis — President Moncef Marzouki called, when receiving on Wednesday Justice Minister Noureddine Bhiri, for speeding up opening of corruption and public money pillage files "which constitue one of the Revolution priorities."

The meeting also turned on the criteria of detainees' release on the 2nd anniversary of the Revolution and on the penitentiary system reform, a communiqué of the Presidency of the Republic reads.

Mr. Bhiri presented to President Marzouki the criteria retained by the commission in charge of establishing the list of detainees who will benefit of a special amnesty for January 14.

He also briefed the president about the ministry's strategy to reform the penitentiary system and establish an independent justice, the same source points out.
