Egypt: Foreign Minister Phones Pope Tawadros On Church Attack in Libya

Mohamed Amr held a phone call on Wednesday 2/1/2013 with Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese to brief him on the latest developments regarding the explosion, which occurred on December 29, at a service building of the Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church in the Libyan city of Misrata which killed two people and wounded two others, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Amr Roshdi.

Amr also posted Pope Tawadros on the intensive contacts held by the Egyptian Embassy in Tripoli with the Libyan authorities to provide the necessary security to the Church, especially with the approach of Christmas celebrations, Roshdi added.

The Egyptian Consul rushed to the scene of the explosion to inspect the situation there and follow up the investigations with the Libyan authorities, he said.
