Gambia: Modou Njie-Sarr Hopes to Hit 20 Goals This Season

Real de Banjul goal poacher Modou Njie-Sarr is hoping to become the first player to hit 20 goals in a domestic league campaign when the new season gets underway this weekend.

Sarr was speaking to Observer Sports in an exclusive interview at Real de Banjul's Gala Dinner and awards night at the Penchami Hall of the Paradise Suites Hotel in Kololi where he was handed his leading goal scorer award from the previous campaign. His 11 goals were pivotal as Real won the title for the first time in four years and will be key again this season if they are to retain the title. The club will also be campaigning in the CAF Champions League.

Njie-Sarr thanked his teammates for making it possible for him, adding that he won't relent on his laurels as he targets to score 20 goals in the coming campaign.

Coming up against Moroccan side FUS Rabat in the preliminary rounds of the Champions league, Njie-Sarr said they will do everything possible to qualify to the group stages of the competition. He said that the underdog tag could even count to their advantage.
