Nigeria: Health Minister Holds Talks With Nigeria's Foreign Minister

Dr. Tedros Adhanom met today (January 03) with the Foreign Minister of Nigeria who is in Ethiopia to deliver a message sent from President Goodluck Jonathan to Prime Minister Hailemariam.

Dr. Tedros Adhanom on the occasion emphasized the importance Ethiopia attaches to its relationship and strategic partnership with Nigeria. He said " Ethiopia and Nigeria have a long history of warm relations."

He also cited their exemplary relations: "the two countries have worked closely as a voice of Africa in continental and global issues." F

oreign Minister Ambassador Olugebenga Ashiru recalled the long and close relations between the two countries and expressed his hopes that this will continue. He thanked Ethiopia for the constructive role it is playing to bring peace between the two Sudans. The discussions covered bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest. Ambassador Olugebenga Ashiru and Dr. Tedros discussed ways to strengthen their strategic partnership. The two sides agreed on the importance of bolstering economic ties. They underlined the importance of strengthening the Ethio-Nigeria Business Association. The two ministers agreed to hold the second Joint Ministerial Commission in the coming months.
