ATHLETE Benjamin Kiplagat is targeting a return to the national team for the 2013 IAAF World Indoor Championships set for Poland in March.

The 24-year-old said that it is too early to write him off ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games due in Brazil because of his unimpressive performance at last year's edition in London.

The 3000m steeplechase runner attributed his low form in London to bad lack.

Kiplagat said this cannot stop him from pursuing a bright future.

The runner added that he has always worked hard in a bid to achieve success.

"My plan at the Olympics was to be in the medal bracket but when I knocked a hurdle, that was the end of everything," Kiplagat said.

He added that, "It was a disappointment for me and many Ugandans."

The 2012 Africa Championship bronze medallist, a World Junior Championship silver medallist in 2008 and a fourth finisher at the 2010 Commonwealth Games observed that disappointments are part of life and should not be reason to give up on one's plans.

He asked the local athletics governing body UAF to identify talented athletes and put them in camp early.
