Uganda: Hotel Africana in Kids' Charity Bash

Hotel Africa threw a kids' party recently hoping to raise funds for the Uganda Burns and Plastic Surgery Institute (UBPSI) ward at Mulago hospital.

The fundraising also sought to raise awareness about how to prevent burns and treat them during these holidays. Hotel Africana's child-centric fun activities like games, bouncing castles, face painting, storytelling and performances by Baby Gloria were the highlight of the day.

Father Christmas was present with gifts for the best dancers while other kids got a chance to take pictures with their favourite cartoon characters. According to statistics from Mulago, UBPSI admits more than 1,400 patients annually with children under five years taking up the majority, 69%.

Speaking at the event, Lucky Namwagala, the hotel's general manager, said the party was an opportunity for children and parents to interact and have fun while raising awareness about burns.
