Eritrea: Veteran Fighter Hussein Omar Shahriya Passes Away

Asmara — Veteran fighter Hussein Omar Shahriya, who has been receiving medical care, passed away at the age of 74 in Bada, Gel'alo sub-zone. His funeral was conducted at the Martyrs Cemetery in Gel'alo in the presence of Government officials and the local inhabitants.

The late Hussein, married and father of 14, took active role in the armed struggle for liberation since 1970, joined the EPLF in 1978 and courageously served as commander at different capacities.

The Ministry of Defense, the Administration of Northern Red Sea region and the PFDJ branch there have expressed their message of condolences to members of his family and companions.
