Kenya: Prime Minister Is Not Anti-Muslim - Clerics

MUSLIM and Christian clerics in Mombasa yesterday dismissed claims that Prime Minister Raila Odinga is against the Muslim community.

The clerics, members of the Interfaith Friends of Raila lobby, said the PM is the best candidate to lead the country as the fourth president because he has a record of fighting for the rights of the weak and the oppressed.

Led by Sheikh Juma Ngao and Pastor David Muhambi, said the notion that Raila is against Muslims is being spread by some disgruntled leaders who only want to seek revenge after they were sacked for non-performance.

They addressing a press conference at a hotel in Mombasa yesterday, the clerics said Raila is best placed to solve land problems at the Coast.

Sheikh Ngao claimed some of the other presidential candidates themselves own huge chunks of land in the region and added that Raila fought for the inclusion of Kadhi Courts in the constitution.

Nyali parliamentary seat aspirant Hezron Awiti said the PM has been with Muslims even when the world was against them.
