Kenya: Clerics Call for Land Commission

RELIGIOUS leaders in Mombasa have urged President Kibaki to appoint commissioners in the National Land Commission.

Kenya Muslim National Advisory Council chairman Sheikh Juma Ngao said appointment of the commission will give hope to many Kenyans who have had their lands illegally taken away from them.

"We ask President Kibaki to ensure that the land commission is in place before he leaves office. We would like him to appoint the commission before the general elections," said Sheikh Ngao yesterday.
