Tanzania: Airtel Offers Hefty Tariff Review

AIRTEL Tanzania announced a new sms tariff to enable its customers afford text services in the country. The mobile service provider has lowered the sms tariff from 54/- to 1/- per sms under its latest promotion known as "sms kichizi."

Airtel Products Manager Francis Ndikumwami told a news conference that: "Today we are happy to launch sms Kichizi, a unique and innovative offer that will enable our customers send short messages at steeply reduced rates.

"This is the first from Airtel where our customers will be able to send short messages at a price as low as one shilling per SMS to any network in the country without a limit 24 hours."

In SMS Kichizi our customers will be charged 125/- for the first short message and thereafter the charge will be at 1/- for the following messages throughout the day. The new sms tariff is applicable for local sms.
