Safaricom says it has switched off 800,000 unregistered SIM cards on its network in a phased exercise to comply with the newly published regulations on
SIM card registration. The operator says the switch off process will continue into the weekend and those affected will not use any of its services,until they register their SIM cards. Meanwhile Yu mobile says it will switch off 400,000 customers today, while Orange had switched off over 100,000 as of Wednesday.
