Kenya: Three in Court for Theft of Water Pump

THREE men including a senior maintenance officer were yesterday charged with the theft of a water pump at the Uhuru na Kazi Building that houses the Coast PC.

Jerad Musau, the maintenance officer, Jared Odoyo and Peter Murege faced a count of stealing a water pump from the provincial headquarters on December 17.

The three allegedly stole the Sh90,000 when it was due for repair from the government building store. The three denied the charge before senior principal magistrate Richard Odenyo.

Murege was charged with a second count of handling a stolen item that belongs to the government. The court released the three on a Sh60,000 bond or a cash bail of Sh20,000 each. Odenyo directed that the case be mentioned on March 12.
