Nigeria: Why ACN, Others Can't Be Entrusted With Power, by PDP Scribe

Abuja — The ruling People's Democratic Party, PDP, has given reasons why the main opposition Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, or any other parties cannot be entrusted with power, saying that the party was not only tribalistic but played politics of bitterness and rancour.

National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, made this known in a statement in Abuja yesterday.

Reacting to ACN statement accusing it of preaching ethnic sentiments, the PDP also condemned the campaign of calumny by ACN against President Goodluck Jonathan, adding that this was why "Nigerians cannot trust the ACN or any other party that associates with it with leadership of the country."

Metuh said: How can a political party aspiring to the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria be so consumed with the preaching and sowing the seeds of bitterness and hatred in the minds of the people they want to lead.

"Nigerians are no fools, they are watching with keen interest the seeds of bitterness and hatred that ACN and other political parties are sowing among the populace. No right thinking Nigerian will cast his or her votes for such a party that propagates schisms and bitterness among us.

"What we need at this moment of nationhood is unity and brotherliness and not the politics of hatred and bitterness."

He claimed that the PDP as the only national party, represented the dreams and aspirations of all Nigerians, advising people to be weary of political parties that thrive on the gospel of envy, frustration and bitterness, as they had nothing to show or deliver as dividends of democracy to the electorates.

Metuh however said that the PDP had resolved not to engage the ACN or any other opposition party in their evil politics of propaganda and envy in 2013, but to concentrate on how to provide the dividends of democracy to the electorates.

"If PDP continues to concentrate in replying the ACN or any other party in their gospels of blackmail, abuse and hatred, it will distract us as a party from delivering our goals of ensuring democracy dividends to the electorates, as well as improving the standard of living of the people.

    Metuh's statement is clear revelation of the authors and origin of the controversial PDP campaign poster in question. The worst thing that can happen to that nation is to have that looting and rampaging party back to continue to harm the international profile of our nation and further drag our development program back to the stoics .
