Nigeria/Cape Verde: Algarve Stadium to Host Eagles, Blue Sharks Friendly

It has now been confirmed that the Super Eagles will clash with the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde at the Algarve Stadium in Faro, Portugal on January 9. Kickoff time for the match is 8pm Portuguese time, which will be 9pm in Nigeria.

According to Jairo Parto of Euro Data Sport Ltd, the official match agency of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the match is being organized in association with Browns Sports Leisure, Algarve, where the Eagles are presently preparing for the Nations Cup and it is to toughen both sides for AFCON 2013 that will be hosted by South Africa.

The match will coincide with the day Nigeria and indeed all 16 nations that will take part in the Nations Cup will submit the list of 23 players each country has picked to represent her at the Nations Cup.

Meanwhile Sports Minister, Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi, who is expected in Faro soon to assess the Super Eagles preparations for the Nations Cup, has expressed joy over the team's outing in the exhibition game against Catalonia XI, that includes at least 10 members of the Spanish national team.

Abdulahi, who spoke through NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, said he was not surprised at the result the players are churning out and expressed the hope that the team will do Nigeria proud at the Nations Cup in South Africa.

"Mr. President has said he will like to come and watch the final involving Nigeria and any other country, I'm now very sure that you will make the President's dream come true," Maigari quoted the Minister as saying.
