Angola: Official Wants Youth Involved in Government Programmes

Caxito — The secretary of State for Youth, Nhanga de Assunção, Friday in Caxito, northern Bengo province, appealed to the youth to engage in the implementation of development programmes outlined by the Angolan Executive, Angop learned.

The secretary of State said so on the sidelines of the 18th National Assembly of the Episcopal Commission on Youth.

The official said that the Government, through the Ministry Of Youth and Sports, will continue to encourage young people toward housing, micro enterprises, job generation programmes, in order to fight poverty.

He said that that 30 percent of the houses, under the Angolan Government programme, will directly benefit youths.

Nhanga de Assunção mentioned several constraints facing youngsters, with stress to unemployment, health and education.

He noted these factors have contributed to the increase in delinquency and excessive alcohol intake in this age group.
