Nigeria: Fulani-Gwari Clash - Displaced Victims Have Not Been Relocated, Says Nema

The officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have denied media reports that victims of the recent communal clash between the Gwari and Fulani communities in Gwako town at Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been relocated from their temporary camp in the permanent site of the University of Abuja.

The NEMA Head of Rescue Team in Gwagwalada, Mr. Slaku Luggard told THISDAY Friday that the displaced persons, mostly Fulanis will be encamped at the University Abuja premises pending the decision of the Investigative panel.

"The issue of relocation; I think was a wrong information from the media. I can confirm that they (displaced victims) are still there", Luggard said.

He disclosed that even though the University authorities have provided another place where temporary tents were to be set-up for them for relocation, such action has to be put on hold by the Head of the Investigative Panel and FCT Commissioner of Police Denrele Shinaba.
