South Africa: Bafana Bafana Visit Fans and Sick Children

Bafana Bafana took time off on Saturday, 5 January 2013 from their routine morning training session to mingle with fans at Absa Towers branch in Cape Town where they spent about an hour signing autographs, mingling with the customers, posing for photos and handing out match tickets.

Their next destination was the Red Cross Children's Hospital where they visited two wards and spent some time with sick children.

The children had stickers written Bafana on their foreheads in anticipation of the national team's arrival and most asked for autographs and posed for photographs with the players.

Together with Absa, the team donated R20 000 to the hospital.

"I want to thank all the guys for their generosity in collecting the money and also the sponsors Absa. This little gesture will go a long way in making a difference in the lives of some of these children. Thank you once again to everyone for showing a good heart.

"Having suffered the pain of having a sick mother in hospital I know the difficulties that people here go through. I also want to thank everyone for the support shown to Bafana since our arrival here," said captain Bongani Khumalo.

Bafana Bafana are scheduled to play Norway at Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday, 8 January 2013.
