Eritrea: Administration of Anseba Region Striving to Boost Dairy Production

Keren — The Administration of Anseba region indicated that it is exerting endeavors to boost dairy production on the basis of breed substitution. It made the statement at an assessment meeting conducted in Keren city.

Accordingly, such association-based farming activities at Elabered Estate, Daerotai and Sutur are the major sources of milk production in the region.

Mr. Tesfai Mekonen, chairman of the Dairy Farmers' Association in the region, explained that they are in a position to ensure exchange of experience, supply of feed and medicines, as well as professional advice and other services through working as an Association. Similarly, Mr. Al-Amin Tahir, head of the Agriculture Ministry's branch in the region, pointed out that a number of Association members could improve their livelihood and raise their capital, and called on other fellow farmers to pursue synergistic path.

In concluding remarks, the Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Gergis Girmai, asserted the Administration's readiness to collaborate with the Association.
