The outgoing Executive Director of the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), Prof. Geoffrey Rugege, has handed over to his successor, Dr. Innocent Mugisha.
Mugisha was Director of Academic Quality and now will combine the two positions until Cabinet appoints the new executive director.
Speaking to The New Times on the sidelines of the ceremony at NCHE offices yesterday, Dr. Mugisha said the task was not new to him, because the council has a system in place.
"Of course, I worked as a technician, but now I will combine being technician and decision maker," he said of his new role.
Prof. Rugege was appointed Executive Director in 2008, taking over from Prof. Pamela Abbott.
"It was great working with NCHE. I am sure that it can achieve its mission with concerted efforts from its leadership and staff," Prof. Rugege said.
