Sudan: Kutum and Alwaha Sign Peaceful Coexistence Agreement

El Fasher — Representatives of both Kutum and Alwaha localities have signed a peaceful coexistence agreement during the Forum for peaceful coexistence which took place in El Fasher on Saturday, 5 January.

The agreement signed between the two parties, includes recommendations on 60 points regarding economic and safety aspects. Yousef Ishaq, one of Kutum's civil administration leaders, told Radio Dabanga that representatives of both localities agreed to resolve outstanding economic, safety and social issues and agreed on peaceful coexistence in the presence of North Darfur Governor, Yousef Mohamed Osman Kiber.

Ishaq, who is also one of the area's sheikhs, revealed to Radio Dabanga the composition of a follow-up committee of five members of each locality for completion of Kutum Road, in addition to five individuals from the old committee of Kutum with the purpose of following-up on incidents and conflict resolution in the localities.
