Kenya: Baringo Violence Drives Out 3,000

Armed herder (file photo): One person has been killed and over 3,000 displaced by bandits in Marigat, Baringo county.

More than 3,000 people have been displaced following fresh attacks by bandits at villages in Baringo.

The heavily armed bandits injured one person and torched houses in the seven-hour attack in Bartabwa forcing many families to flee.

Rift Valley Police boss John M'Mbijiwe said additional police have been sent to the area.

"Baringo North DC Joshua Ogango said the security forces deployed in the region had been directed to ensure they firmly deal with the criminals.We are sure the situation will be back to normal as soon as possible," he said.
