Egypt: Electricity Ministry Plans to Establish Giant Coal-Fired Power Generation Plan
6 January 2013
The Ministry of Electricity and Energy is considering a plan to establish what was described as the first giant coal-fired power generation station in Safaga.
The proposed station's capacity is expected to exceed 1950 megawatt and required coal would be partly imported from abroad.
Minister of Electricity and Energy Dr. Mahmoud Balbaa reviewed with senior ministry official's alternatives to secure fuel needed to operate power-generation plants in order to meet public demand for energy.
