Nigeria: Jonathan Did Not Lie On 5,000 Megawatts - Dagogo-Jack

The Presidential Task Force on Power (PTFP) has said that President Goodluck Jonathan did not lie on the nation's power generation figure as published by an online media which erroneously misinterpreted the President's press briefing held last November.

A statement issued yesterday by the PTFP explained that during the press briefing, "the President made mention of the 5000MW generation profile achieved and immediately went on to clarify that owing to transmission constraints not all of this can be evacuated for now.

"It is important to note that since that interview we have achieved over 6,300 MW in available generation and have hit a peak of 4517MW in evacuated power. So where is the lie", the statement queried.

The PTFP Chairman, Engr. Beks Dagogo-Jack, explained further that there was "a difference between the impressive increase we have recorded in available generation which is in itself a worthy progress and the actual power we can wheel on any given day based on the transmission and gas limitations."
