A Tunis appellate court on Thursday (January 3rd) rejected a request for the release of Ettounsiya TV director Sami Fehri. The court also issued arrest warrants for each of the five former CEOs of the channel, defence lawyer, Sonia Dahmani told Tunisia Live.
"It was not surprising to me... It is a continuous play, which aims at keeping Fehri in prison for an unknown objective," Dahmani said.
Fehri was arrested in August, days after his station aired a satirical puppet show that mocked members of the Ennahda-led government.
He is accused of misappropriating Tunisian state television resources to create a production company with the brother-in-law of ousted president Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali.
