Kenya: Stars Go Back to the Proverbial Drawing Board

Nairobi — Harambee Stars coach James Nandwa was lost for words after his squad drew 0-0 yesterday to Burundi Swallows in the return leg of a CHAN qualifier at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Nandwa lamented about missed chances adding that the absence of key players like Rama Salim and Humphrey Mieno who moved to Tanzania affected the team's game plan.

The results mean that Burundi now advances to the next round on a 1-0 aggregate win at the expense of James Nandwa's men.

Coming off a 1-0 loss in Bujumbura two and a half weeks ago, Stars needed a scoreline of at least two clear goals to advance to the next round.

Burundi will now meet Sudan in the next stage of the qualifying round in June.

After two matches, Stars are third in the 4 team group after drawing against Malawi at home and losing by a solitary goal to Namibia away.

Up next for Stars will be Nigeria here in Nairobi for the Qualifiers of the 2014 Brazil World Cup.
