Kaduna — Christian youths have tasked federal government to be more proactive on security in Nigeria, saying government has been insincere in handling the Boko Haram menace.
A statement issued and signed by the national president of Christian Youth Network (CYN) Engineer Amos Anendah condemned the politicization of the Boko Haram issue , saying government is leaving the realities to point accusing fingers at innocent people who are perceived as political opponents.
"We are particularly reacting to an earlier public unguarded statement by the presidential spokesman, Chief Doyin Okupe who linked political opponents to the sect. This kind of utterence only portrays the highest level of insensitivity and lack of focus," the statement reads.
While calling on President Goodluck Jonathan to name those he earlier said were part of his government and were deeply involved in the activities of the sect. They also urged youths of Nigeria not to be deceived by using religion as a yardstick for choosing their leaders in 2015.
