Angola: Military Census Begins Monday Countrywide

Luanda — The military census of national male citizens born in 1995 begins this Monday countrywide and abroad, from January 7 to February 28 this year.

According to a dispatch from the National Defence minister, Cândido Pereira Van-Dúnem, and in line with the Law Number 1/93 (Military Service Act), the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) must instruct the mobilisation and recruitment organs in regard to the way in which must be fulfilled the norms for the execution of these measures.

The conscription of nationals should be made by an individual registration, which requires the active participation of municipal administrations, as well as the country's diplomatic and consular missions abroad.

According to the dispatch, the census allows the statistical control of military reserves, whose selection determines the development and modernization of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), as well as regular quantitative and qualitative renewal of the effectives.
