Eritrea: Ministry Calls for Participation in Rehabilitation of Orphans

Asmara — The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare has called on citizens to enhance popular participation as regards rehabilitation of orphans.

It made the call at a meeting conducted last week in Asmara city during which the participants conducted in-depth discussion regarding the role of stakeholders to this end.

A report presented by the Ministry highlighted that community environment is a vital factor in the all-round maturity of orphans, and that siblings and companions should extend a helping hand towards bequeathing cultural values to such children.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Mihretab Fisehaye, director general of the social service department in the Ministry, stressed the resulting psychological impact of orphanhood among those who don't get good patronization, and called for higher societal role in this regard.
