Kenya: Mwingi Man Seeks Help for Scan, Bills

A 26-year-old man has sought help from well wishers and the government to raise money for a CT scan and defray accumulating hospital bill.

Alex Maua, who hails from Nuu division of Mwingi East district, said he was admitted there from September up to date. He said the doctors in Mwingi have never diagnosed his disease.

"I have been in this condition from May 2012 till now. I was first hospitalized in June and discharged in August by being referred to Thika hospital for a CT scan which I lacked money for. The disease continued and I was taken back to the hospital in September," said Alex.

He said he completed standard eight in 2005 and could not continue with education due to biting poverty. He said the strange disease started with paralyzing his legs, hands and then it spread to the rest of the body.
