Kenya: Embu Granny's 115th Birthday Celebration

A woman who witnessed the first World War recently celebrated her 115th birthday in Machagori village of Embu North district.

Janet Kori Njageh, who has over 30 grandchildren and over ten great grandchildren, marked her birthday at the St Mary Anglican Church of Kenya Machogori in a service presided over by Pastor Catherine Wairimu.

"I make sure that I pray before waking up, before eating anything, and before retiring to bed. The people of this generation surprise me because they don't eat healthy food. They only eat potatoes (chips) and rice and think they have eaten," Njageh said.

Despite her advanced age, Njageh still has most of her teeth intact and can walk short distances.
