Mauritania: IMF Chief to Attend Nouakchott Investment Conference

The 5th regional conference on inter-Maghreb and foreign investments will open in Nouakchott on January 8th, al-Akhbar reported on Sunday (January 6th). The two-day event will be attended by International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde.

Mauritania is the last stop of Lagarde's Africa trip, which also included Malawi and Cote d'Ivoire. In Nouakchott, she will meet with Mauritanian officials, including President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz.

In December, the IMF approved the disbursement of $16.9 million under the Extended Credit Facility for Mauritania.
